Empower the Next Generation of Safe Shooters
Our NRA Instructor Pistol Shooting Course is a comprehensive 16-hour program designed to equip you with the essential knowledge, skills, and attitude required to organize, promote, and teach NRA's Basic Pistol Shooting course.
Qualifications to Become an NRA Instructor: To qualify as an NRA Instructor, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Completion of NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (Instructor Led Only) Course: Candidates must have successfully completed the current NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (Instructor Led Only) course, laying the foundation for effective instruction.
Solid Firearm Background: Candidates must possess and demonstrate a solid background in firearm safety and shooting skills acquired through previous firearm training and/or previous shooting experience. Instructor candidates should have intimate familiarity with each pistol action type.
Demonstrated Safe Handling Skills: Candidates will be required to showcase solid and safe firearm handling skills, crucial for success during an instructor training course. This includes completing pre-course questionnaires and qualification exercises administered by the NRA Certified Training Counselor.
Successful Completion of Instructor Training: To become an NRA Certified Instructor, candidates must satisfactorily complete an NRA Instructor Training Course and receive the endorsement of the NRA Training Counselor conducting that training.
Basic Instructor Training: The course is divided into two parts. The first part focuses on basic instructor training, laying the groundwork for effective teaching, organizing, and promoting firearm education.
Discipline-Specific Instructor Training: The second part delves into discipline-specific instructor training, where candidates gain a deeper understanding of pistol shooting instruction.
Hands-On Experience: Throughout the course, students engage in practical exercises to refine their organizational and teaching skills. These exercises empower you to confidently lead and educate future shooters.
Certification Examination: As you progress through the course, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your expertise in firearm instruction by completing an instructor certification examination.
